The Story Behind the Zero to 100 Business-Networking Workbook

In November 2022, I realized something was missing. I had written “Zero to 100: The Gold Standard of Global Networking” as a repository of everything I knew about building meaningful business relationships. But knowledge without application is just theory. People needed a way to actually put these principles into practice, to work through the challenges of networking in real-time, on their own terms.

So I started searching for someone who could help me create a workbook—not just any workbook, but one built by someone who truly understood the networking journey.

The Search for the Right Partner

I reached out to my network: “Who do you know that produces workbooks? They must have a proven track record and be personable with serving humans as their main focus.”

Several recommendations came in, and I took meetings. But none of them specialized in workbooks. By January 2023, I was browsing websites myself, skeptical but determined. That’s when I found Do The Work Books and its founder, Theresa McNeilly.

I filled out a contact form, not expecting much. To my surprise, Theresa responded personally and scheduled a Zoom meeting.

The Questions That Mattered

Before we met, I asked her four crucial questions:

1. Have you ever networked through Chambers of Commerce, BNI’s, etc.?
2. Have you had coffee meetings with people from those environments?
3. Do you really produce workbooks, and can you show me examples?
4. Do you have a proven process, and can you walk me through it?

The Meeting That Changed Everything

Theresa showed up to our meeting having studied my entire website, with notes prepared. She walked me through examples from ten past clients—wellness workbooks, transformation guides, personal growth tools—all beautifully designed with the same philosophy I valued: prompts that guide people toward their own realizations rather than telling them what to think.

But here’s what made it click: on her vision board, in bold letters, was a goal to find someone who taught business networking.

And there I was.

Here was someone who had spent years helping authors turn knowledge into actionable tools, who understood the power of guided reflection from her own experience (a grief workbook had helped her through one of the hardest periods of her life), and who was actively looking to improve her own networking skills. Her background as an Industrial Designer and Design Manager meant she brought both visual sensibility and systematic thinking to every project.

It was a match made in business heaven.

Building Something That Works

Introverts building confidence or seasoned networkers looking to deepen their impact.

A “beginner’s mindset”—open, curious, looking for moments in the text where readers would naturally pause to reflect.

What Made This Collaboration Work

Connection, Creativity, Collaboration, and Compassion

This workbook mirrored what I wanted readers to experience: the realization that networking doesn’t have to feel salesy or inauthentic; it can be an extension of who you already are.

Knowledge + Application = Transformation

The book is the repository. The workbook is the application.

This workbook isn’t about tactics or shortcuts. It’s a personal roadmap designed to work for all networking styles and experience levels.

This workbook isn’t about tactics or shortcuts. It’s a personal roadmap designed to work for all networking styles and experience levels. It combines actionable how-to guidance with interactive worksheets—quizzes, reflection prompts, templates, and systems that allow readers to customize the process to their own needs. It’s for anyone who wants to move from transactional interactions to real-ationships that create mutual value over time.

Why This Matters

Workbooks create space for something rare in our digital, fast-paced world: slower, deeper paths to self-awareness and action. As Theresa puts it, “Thoughtful introspection must be done away from clicking buttons and glaring screens.” The Zero to 100 workbook gives you that space—a tangible, pen-to-paper tool that helps you move from simply being taught a concept to truly embodying it.

After more than two years from that first search in November 2022, the Zero to 100 Business-Networking Workbook is complete. It’s exactly what I hoped it would be—a practical companion that helps people take what they learn and put it into meaningful action.

And Theresa? She’s no longer just a collaborator. She’s become an integral part of this mission.
